Dreams...

It's so hard to study in those amazing and sunny summer days.
Well, to be honest, it's hard to study in any season; after all these years at university, I don't feel like studying at all.
Even if I think that I'm almost at the end of my 2-year second level degree course and that there are few exams left, it doesn't help.

In the meanwhile, I wrote a review of Candace Bushnell's Sex & the City which I read in English.

I re-start reading books in English because I'd like to attend a MA in the UK some day (probably something related to publishing, even if I think that the International Journalism MA at the City University of London is really interesting).
But to be accepted by an university of countries like the UK or the States, students whose first language is not English are required to obtain a minimum overall score of 7.0 in the IELTS English language test. Candidates must also score a minimum 7.0 in the Writing element of the IELTS test.
That's why I've started to read more books and articles in English and to watch more movies and TV series in English.
I don't know if my parents are willing to help me in this project, which is as ambitious as expensive; I don't know if I really want to take that route; if I have the courage to apply for; if I want to continue to study; if I can keep up with a MA in English and move there; if I'm not too old for a MA; if it makes sense to study publishing abroad and to look for a job in an English publisher when I'm an Italian native speaker; if I'm brave enough to be far from my family, my relatives (in particular from my nieces!), my friends, my basketball mates, from Marco. If, if, if...
For the moment being, I'm only sure that I'll try the IELTS English language test, also to understand how good (or bad) my English is.
Then we'll see...

And, finally, my review of SATC!
I can't believe this is the book which inspired the famous TV series of the same name.
I'm a huge fan of SATC: I watched (and re-watched) all the episodes of the 6 seasons and the 2 movies too. I love Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda and I've always envied their close friendship, which has lasted for years.
But reading this book was a bitter disappointment to me.
Above all, there's no trace of their friendship: the characters who bear the names Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes and Samantha Jones are minor. Their lives are separeted and there's no connection among them.
Do you remember what Samantha says in "SACT 2 - The movie"? She tells the other girls: "We made a deal ages ago, men, babies, doesn't matter; we're soul mates." Well, forget it!
And Carrie. Omigod! She's so shallow! She's all about boys, booze and partying. She acts like she doesn't give a damn about anything and anyone, even about friends and Mr. Big. I can't stand her at all. As Mr. Big says in the book, she's like a cyborg or something.
Now let's go back to TV series. It's so much better!
